Taman Ujung Soekasada - Ujung Water Palace

Maret 10, 2018

Taman Ujung or Taman Soekasada Ujung or Ujung Water Palace is one of historical relics of the Kingdom of Karangasem. It’s also being one of tourism destination in East Bali.  It’s located in Karangasem Regency. The distance from Denpasar City is about 68 kilometers with the travel time almost 2 hours (usual traffic).

Most people won’t know about this place. Maybe because it’s far enough from tourism destination in Bali (Kuta, Ubud, Seminyak, Jimbaran, etc.). But if you want to know about a historical building with a mixing touch of European and Balinese architecture, Ujung Water Palace is the right place to visit.

In this place, you can see pools. There are three pools, one pool is in the south while the other two are in the north. The pool in the north is larger than in the south. It’s because of in the middle of northern pool, there is a bridge for across it.  Between the pool there is a building which use as a resting place for the Karangasem King. There are many fish in the pool, you can feed them by buying the food fish.

Not only pool, bridge and the resting building, but you can find the high stairs. If you don’t mind climbing the stairs, there is pillared buildings without a roof. Also, you can see the whole landscape (fascinating and uniqueness architecture) of the Ujung Water Palace, the blue sea and Ujung Beach.

I got the opportunities to have visit Ujung Water Palace once. Because I worked as a distributor of veterinary medicine before, I used to past the Ujung Water Palace when I was going to farm several times. Form the outside when you go through it, you’ll get curious about how it looks inside. Because from the outside, you’ll see the large pool and it’s very fascinating.

I went to Ujung Water Palace with my sister. We went there by motorcycle.  It took about 1 hour to get there (because I lived in Klungkung Region). When we arrived, we have to buy entrance tickets. The price is IDR 15.000,00/person. It was cheap for us, because we can see a beautiful scenery that we rarely seen like Ujung Water Palace (especially in East Bali). We really liked to visit Ujung Water Palace. We will plan to visit there again when we have free time.
